Through OSX 10.8, Apple provided a means to install X11.app, but XQuartz has always been more up to date and hence is recommended for use. Running almost any GNU Radio graphical interface (GUI) will require downloading and installing X11/XQuartz first. Prerequisite: X11.app, recommended via XQuartz Primary support is for 64-bit Intel-based Macs running OSX 10.6 or newer. There is very little support for getting the background libraries and applications installed on OSX 10.5 or earlier, nor 32-bit Intel or any PPC, though all of these should be possible. GNU Radio has been compiled and installed on OSX 10.4 ("Tiger") through 10.15 ("Catalina") running any compatible version of Xcode on all recent and many older Macs - whether Intel or PowerPC/PPC. 1.8.4 Fatal error: 'unistd.h' file not found.1.7 Upgrading to a new version of OSX on the same computer.1.6 A note about GR_PYTHON_DIR CMake setting and the PYTHONPATH environment variable.1.5.2 Compiling GNU Radio using Kate Temkins build script.1.2 A note about DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH and other DYLD environment variables.1.1 Prerequisite: X11.app, recommended via XQuartz.1 Installing GNU Radio on MacOS X / macOS.It may not even be that important really, and I may have to just do an A & E sometime to get it all straightened out, but I think I will wait till I have the time for such an undertaking with that. So I have been searching around trying to find out why I have trouble getting up to 1.1.3. especially, Inkscape & Gimp work pretty well except for a few quirks which I reported in the appropriate forums over there and someone asked me what version of X11 I had AND what version of XQuartz I had, so I assumed they would be different version numbers. quite understandable.Īll in all, my X11 apps. #PASTE INTO XQUARTZ UPDATE#Strangely enough, the requirement for the 1.1.3 update requires a minimum of 1.1, yet 1.1 does not seem to exist anywhere!! a real catch-22 BobHarris, Yes, still on Tiger here (10.4.11), and probably like you say about the earlier weak reporting methods. Even applying the update I still remain at 1.0, or that's what it reports. #PASTE INTO XQUARTZ SOFTWARE#That said, you can run into some issues if you download the current X11 and then do a software update that updates it with an older version (the OS X 10.6.3 update did J D McIninch, Yes, I also get 1.0 and XFree86 4.4.0 in the About dialogue, although from what I understand, using Tiger, I should be able to get it up to 1.1.3 with software update. That said, you can run into some issues if you download the current X11 and then do a software update that updates it with an older version (the OS X 10.6.3 update did that). As a matter of fact, if you attempt to run the Xquartz executable, it starts X11. Xquartz should be the same version as X11.app (most people refer to X11.app itself as XQuartz). Location: /Applications/Utilities/X11.app You can also go to System Profiler (/Applications/Utilities/System Profiler), and check under Software > Applications for X11. If you start an X application and go to the X11 menu, you can select "About". Always writes the metadata key in the output, there's not even the string '-' in the executable.
